We all know, "It's cheaper to maintain an old client than acquire a new one" So, we should ask, "how can I serve my clients so well that they are willing to pay me more?"
The golden secret I have learned through 12 years of my design business is to treat yourself as a solution provider but as a designer!
Business owners do not need designers but solution providers, so when you provide more valuable solutions, they will pay you more! Well, it's easier to say than to do; how can we start?
At the beginning of every project, I would ask my clients a system of questions through a professional survey form.
I want to share two of my golden revenue-driven questions today!
1. Why do you want to do this design?
2. What are you going to do after the project is finished?
The first question is a strategic question, and the goal is to know the real need of your client. Your client may need a rebrand to claim dominance over their family business or a packaging design to expand their business to other target audiences in the market. There must be a deeper motivation behind a design project.
The second question is tactic, and the goal is to know whether there are more opportunities after a project. Most of my clients have more to do after a design project; asking them and fulfilling their needs will increase your revenue!
